A Little Bit About Me...

For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a teacher.  This passion for education no doubt came from my mother who is a recently retired teacher.  Knowing that I get to wake up each day and go make a difference in the lives of 26 students is a true blessing.  Each day is a new challenge and it never gets boring.  I began my adventure into education in 2006 when I started my first semester at Michigan State University.  I immediately fell in love with campus and the culture at MSU.  There is nothing better than a fall day in East Lansing on a football weekend!  After years of hard work I graduated in 2010 before starting my yearlong internship in East Lansing.  I was placed in a great fifth grade classroom and grew a ton as a teacher.  I was lucky enough to get a job interview in for South Lyon Community Schools shortly after finishing my internship and was hired in the fall of 2011.  I've been teaching fifth grade at the same elementary school ever since.

When I'm not busy teaching I enjoy spending time with my friends and family.  I married wife in July of 2012 and we quickly adopted two cats, Scully and LeRoi.

I am an avid movie watcher and lover of music.  You'll find me at the movie theater most weekends checking out new movies and at concerts on other nights.  I have been into music ever since I started playing the saxophone in fifth grade.  I bring it out for my students every now and then!  I am also a huge sports fan, especially the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and all MSU sports.  We have been season ticket holders for MSU football for 10 years now and I couldn't be more proud of our football team!

In the Spring of 2014 I decided to enroll in the Master's of Educational Technology (MAET) program at Michigan State University.  Over the last year and a half I have gained so much knowledge and have become truly inspired to grow as a teacher.  Even though my journey at MSU is almost complete, I will continue to find ways to learn new and better teaching practices.
